From one ZIP to ICRIS-ready records

For Map 2, upload the complete block-photo archive and identify it as Map 2. The system uses the connected Straughan-to-Elm map, preserves every original, and returns only the assignments or facts that actually need your judgment.

The point-and-click goal

One block, six visible stages

You review evidence and exceptions. The system handles the repetitive preparation.

Automatic work

What the system does

  • Preserves every original photograph and records its checksum.
  • Reads capture time, GPS, and camera direction when present.
  • Sorts the walk in capture order and selects the Map 2 reference.
  • Creates contact sheets for quick visual review.
  • Groups façade, side, rear, and accessory-building views by property.
  • Drafts ICRIS fields using the approved 701 E Jefferson standard.
  • Separates the architectural description from significance and integrity.
  • Creates consistent photo filenames, descriptions, and downloads.
  • Checks map coverage and one-to-one photo assignment before publication.
Human judgment

What can stop for review

  • An address does not agree with the map, parcel, or visible marker.
  • A photograph could belong to either of two properties.
  • A garage or outbuilding cannot be confidently associated with a parcel.
  • The façade direction or building side is uncertain.
  • Capture direction or other EXIF evidence is missing.
  • A date, material, alteration, or use is not supported by the evidence.
  • A contributing recommendation depends on unresolved chronology or integrity.

Unknown remains unknown. A complete-looking record is never more important than a defensible one.

Quality standard

Rules that do not change

01

Originals stay original

No renaming, resizing, recompression, or metadata loss in the source archive.

02

Direction means two things

The filename records the direction the camera faces. The description names the building side first, then the viewing position—for example, “South side, viewed from the north.”

03

Descriptions stay clean

Photo descriptions never repeat the house number and never use the word “candidate.” Compass degrees do not appear in filenames.

04

Completion is explicit

“Entered into ICRIS” changes only when you confirm entry. Copying a field or opening a photograph never marks the record complete.

Publication gate

What “ready for ICRIS” means

A block index lists every property as Ready or Needs review. Every ready property page contains:

  • A compact lead photograph and Map 2 reference
  • Copyable fields in ICRIS form order
  • Separate description and significance/integrity narratives
  • All assigned photographs with exact filenames and clean captions
  • Original-file downloads and copy controls
  • A saved “Entered into ICRIS” checkbox
Reusable upload instruction

What to say with the ZIP

Process this as East End Survey Map 2. Preserve the originals, use the connected Straughan-to-Elm map, apply the approved residential record standard, and return only unresolved assignments for review.

Map 2 acceptance checklist

These checks tell us whether the first pass is genuinely useful.

We will judge the test by: time to the first usable record · incorrect photo assignments · caption or narrative edits · photo-upload friction · reliable completion saving.
